Itinerary:

1. Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

The first stop was at Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque which is a beautiful relatively new mosque on the way into the city centre. You can just walk through the whole complex which may take around 45 minutes.

2. Mutrah Market and Souq

We had a little stop at the Mutrah Fish Market and the Mutrah Souq. The Fish Market has a small but very good selection of fresh fish, if you have the time and place to cook something this is the place to go shopping. The Souq was a mixture of gold jewelry, clothing and spices.

3. Bait al Zubar Museum

We spend about 45min here. You can see traditional clothings, some rebuild historical huts and lots of weapons. Our guide explained everything about the different styles of the hats and ropes.

4. Al Alam Palace

Next stop was at the old palace which we saw just from the outside. We then drove some meters to a parking lot near Al Mirani Fort from where you can see the Al Jalali Fort and the small island of Jazirat Masqat.

5. Qurum Beach

Our tour ended at Qurum Beach. It’s a wide sandy beach with a few cafés on the street so you can either jump into the warm water or chill in the shade of a cafe.
