Description
This is our late autumn one week in Israel itinerary. The weather was perfect, sunshine all day long and temperatures at noon around 30 degree celsius. We did a little round trip through the middle and southern part of the country.

Itinerary:
1. Tel Aviv – Jaffa
Most people will arrive in Tel Aviv by plane and it is one of the absolute highlights of the country. The mixture between coffee shops, beaches, restaurants, nightlife and business districts will keep you busy for at least 2 days.
2. Jerusalem
In pure contrast to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem is a place where it’s all about history and religion. You have to visit the old town, the temple mountain and the Holocaust memorial Yad Vashem.
The roof of the austrian hospice in the old town is a very nice place to see the sunset.
3. The Dead Sea and surroundings
On the way from Jerusalem to the dead sea you can stop at Mar Jaris (St. George) monastery which is build in a rock face. Once you reach the dead sea there are several public baths where you can enter the water and take a shower afterwards. If you have time you can afterwards either do a little hike in a canyon called En Gedi or go further south to the ancient fortification Masada.
4. Negev Desert
We stayed in a little hut in the desert for the night and went in the morning into the desert with a guided camel tour. After that we continued our way to Makhtesh Ramon which looks like a giant crater but it actually kind of a big sinkhole. On the edge of the crater you can see many nubian ibex goats.
On our way back to Tel Aviv we stopped at the ruins of the Nabataean city Avdat and the canyon of Nahal Zin.
5. Caesarea Maritima & Aquaduct Beach
Caesarea Maritima are old roman ruins located directly on the shore of the Mediterranean. You can reach the area by car in around 45 min from Tel Aviv.
There are several mosaics, roman columns and even a big theatre.
A little bit north of the ruins is the Aquaduct Beach which has an old roman aquaduct on its back. In November the beach was quite empty altough it was warm enough to go for a swim.
